The Art of Recharging: What are YOU plugging into?

We charge our phones every night. We make sure the things we rely on are plugged in and ready to go. We notice when the battery gets low. We look for an outlet. We carry chargers with us because we know that eventually, we’re going to need to recharge.

And what about you? How are you charging yourself?

Our human systems require charging, too.

Our bodies. Our minds. Our hearts. Our spirits.

And yet, so many of us—especially women—run on fumes most of the time.

We give our time. Our energy. We hold space for everyone else. We keep showing up. Keep pushing. Keep doing.

And somewhere along the way, we forget that we need to be replenished, too.

Lately, I’ve been paying much more attention to what actually charges me.

For me, it has been nature. It always has. And yet, somehow, I seem to forget that when I get too caught up with life.

Sometimes I simply sit outside and watch. I notice the trees. The light. The breeze. The birds. The way the world continues to move without asking me to accomplish anything.

Sometimes I take intentional, almost meditative walks—not walks because I should exercise, but walks where I allow myself to slow down enough to notice beauty.

And sometimes I lie belly-down on Mother Earth. I allow myself to be held by her. I imagine releasing whatever heaviness I’ve been carrying into the earth and allowing myself to receive her nourishment in return.

And I’ve noticed something.

When I do this once in a while, it feels good.

And when I make it a practice—when it becomes something I intentionally return to day after day—the difference becomes much more noticeable.

Over the course of even a week or so, I’ve noticed my physical body feeling lighter. I feel happier. More joyful. More hopeful.

I feel nourished.

Recharged.

Even brain fog that has been lingering feels like it is beginning to clear.

And it has reminded me of something important:

We don't simply need occasional breaks from the doing and busyness of our lives. We need regular sources of nourishment within them.

So, I want to ask you:

What are you plugging into lately?

What actually fills you back up?

Maybe it’s time in nature.

Maybe it’s being with like-minded, like-hearted friends who allow you to be fully yourself.

Maybe it’s a sister circle where you don’t have to hold everything together.

Maybe it’s giving yourself permission to take a nap in the middle of the day.

Maybe it’s taking a walk—not because you need to exercise for your health, but because you want to see what beauty and joy you can encounter along the way.

Maybe it’s a regular meditation or yoga practice.

Music. Dancing. Creativity.

Healthy, nourishing food.

A quiet cup of tea.

A conversation that leaves you feeling more alive.

Maybe it’s jumping into a fresh body of water and allowing yourself to feel cleansed, renewed, and recalibrated.

There is no one right way to recharge.

The invitation is simply to notice.

What gives something back to you?

And if you’re reading this thinking, "That sounds wonderful, but who has time for that?"

That might be your cue that you need it even more.

You don't have to completely change your life.

Start with five minutes.

Five minutes sitting outside.

Five minutes breathing.

Five minutes walking slowly and noticing what is beautiful around you.

Five minutes with your hand on your heart.

Put it on your calendar if you need to.

Make it a ritual. A daily habit.

Not another thing you have to do.

Something you choose to do for you.

Because you are not a machine designed to endlessly give.

You are a living, breathing human being.

And just like your phone... your body, mind, heart, and spirit have a battery, too.

So before you give the next thing. Before you keep pushing through…

Pause for a moment and ask yourself:

What do I need to plug into today?

And then, if you can…

Go plug yourself in.

You deserve it.

Not because you’ve done enough. Not because you’ve earned it. Not because you’ve taken care of everyone else first.

Simply because you do.

Happy Recharging!

With love,

Wendy
